Job # 3468 E JOB DESCRIPTION Serves as a Principal Investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration and sustainment projects. 1. Develop and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and difficult system design requirements and problems. 2. Conduct investigations of considerable complexity. 3. Provide technical consultation to other organizations or customers. 4. Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications. 5. Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects requiring the expert application of advanced knowledge. 6. Review completion and implementation of systems additions and/or enhancements and recommends corrections in technical application and analysis to management. 7. Represent the Company as technical advisor in high-level meetings and briefings with Company and customer personnel. 8. Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies. 9. Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work. 10. Act as and is recognized as a Company/industry expert resource on the most complex engineering problems. 11. Maintain technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advise management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction of project operations. 12. Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations. 13. Develop, interpret, and implement technical and administrative operating policies and procedures SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES Must be able to: ? Design radar and microwave transmitting and receiving systems from stringent requirements. ? Research and select high power radar components based upon specified requirements. ? Write requirements documents and operations manuals, etc. ? Conduct individual component tests and system level testing in a lab and on installed systems to verify vendor specification compliance and system performance. ? Prototype systems to determine design feasibility. ? Integrate COTS and specially designed radar hardware into a large scale system. ? Troubleshoot component and system level issues. ? Maintain, overhaul, and modify system components and associated equipment. ? Apply sound system engineering principles. Knowledge of antenna design and analysis, and radar signal processing desired. WORKING CONDITIONS This position involves work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science Degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Doctorate Degree in Engineering with at least 8 years of related engineering experience. The incumbent must possess a well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the Company. Must demonstrate the ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration and sustainment of complex systems or processes. The incumbent must use superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers, writing reports and proposals. The incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and have a working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools.
